We can divide the Bow River in two main parts. The first one is the upper Bow which is located in the mountains west of Calgary and the second one contains the 50 mile stretch of river in and below Calgary. The last part is considered the trout fishing heaven by trout fishers all over the worlds.

This western river has an abundance of riffles, seams, runs, pools, and undercut banks that hold more that 2000 fish per kilometer. Still, the best part is the size of the trout that you can catch here. Most of the trout landed on the Bow river have between 16 and 18 inches but you can also find fishes of 20 inches. Large acrobatic rainbow trout, powerful brown trout, and lovely landscapes combine to make a great day in Alberta for all the fishers.
